Unbeaten and Unstoppable: Stoke Damerel Footballers Shine at Somerset Festival

We are delighted to celebrate the success of three of our Year 9 talented footballers—Ollie S, Freddie D, and Freddie P—who have proudly represented Plymouth Schools FA, a prestigious representative football side with over 100 years of tradition.

Selected from nearly 200 nominated players across Plymouth, Ollie S, Freddie D, and Freddie P were amongst the final 20 chosen to wear the Plymouth Schools FA badge. Their selection is a testament to their talent, dedication, and sportsmanship—both on and off the pitch.

Over the Easter break, the squad took part in the Somerset Festival, held at the renowned Millfield School—a recognised centre of youth sporting excellence. The boys played a key role in a phenomenal tournament run, helping the Plymouth side go undefeated throughout the competition.

Results from the Somerset Festival:

  • 1–1 Draw vs Blackburn

  • 4–0 Win vs Cornwall

  • 5–1 Win vs Dorset

  • 6–0 Win vs Oxford/Reading

  • 5–0 Win vs Yeovil

Amongst the standout performers was Ollie S, who found the back of the net four times during the festival, showcasing his goal-scoring prowess on a big stage.

The team now looks ahead with excitement and focus as they prepare for the final three league matches of the season. With strong form and momentum behind them, there’s hope they can bring home both the league and cup titles.

Everyone at Stoke Damerel is incredibly proud of Ollie S, Freddie D, and Freddie P—not just for their performances, but for the way they continue to represent the school with pride and excellence.

Well done, boys!
