Students Make Their Voices Heard in Youth Parliament Elections

Students across the campus have had the exciting opportunity to take part in the Youth Parliament elections for the City of Plymouth. Pupils from all year groups across campus joined peers from 22 schools across the city to cast their votes and make their voices heard.
The election featured a wide range of candidates, giving students the opportunity to consider a range of campaign messages before making their choice. Once voting closed, ballot boxes were collected and counted by Plymouth City Council—an impressive total of over 8,000 votes were recorded.
We are delighted to share that Stoke Damerel Community College had two students successfully elected to the Youth Parliament:
Faith was elected Deputy Member of Youth Parliament following her campaign to reduce bus fares.
Sienna was elected as a Youth Parliament Member for Plymouth City Council, advocating for action against violence towards women and girls.
Huge congratulations to both students for their inspiring campaigns and well-deserved success. Their election demonstrates the importance of youth engagement in shaping our communities and reflects the core British value of democracy in action.
Well done to all students who participated—you have played an active role in showcasing how the voices of young people can help lead positive change.
