Cadets Embark on Their First Field Adventure
Our enthusiastic cadets recently participated in their first field exercise, marking a significant step in their training. The weekend was filled with hands-on activities that taught them valuable skills while building teamwork and resilience.
The cadets spent their first night under the stars, fully embracing the outdoor experience and gaining important insights into survival techniques. This overnight camp-out fostered camaraderie amongst the young participants as they adapted to the elements.
They also practised essential skills in camouflage and concealment during a challenging escape and evasion activity. This exercise tested their ability to blend into their surroundings and emphasised the importance of teamwork and strategic thinking in tough situations.
Adding to the excitement, the cadets had their first experience with air rifles during a supervised shooting session. Under the guidance of experienced instructors, they learnt the fundamentals of marksmanship, focusing on safety and accuracy. This hands-on experience provided a thrilling introduction to shooting sports and sparked interest in further training.
In a creative twist, the cadets participated in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) challenge, where they built water-powered rockets. This activity encouraged creativity and engineering skills while underscoring the importance of teamwork as they collaborated to design and launch their creations.
Another memorable part of the weekend was a visit to HMS Raleigh, where the cadets witnessed the traditional field gun competition. This historic event offered them a glimpse into naval heritage and fostered a sense of pride and connection to the roles of their predecessors within the armed forces.
As the weekend came to a close, the cadets reflected on the skills they had learnt and the bonds they had formed. Cadet leaders highlighted how these experiences would prepare them for future challenges, both in and out of uniform.
Returning home, the cadets carried with them not just memories of a fun-filled weekend but also a renewed sense of purpose and determination. With future exercises on the horizon, they are excited to continue their journey in the cadet program, ready to face whatever challenges come next.
