Students Spark Passion for the Theatre with ‘& Juliet’ at the Theatre Royal Plymouth

Last week, the Drama Department took 37 of our Year 8 and Year 9 students on an exciting trip to the Theatre Royal Plymouth to watch the critically acclaimed musical ‘& Juliet’. This modern jukebox musical offers a fresh reimagining of Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet, blending the classic tale with a contemporary twist using popular hit songs.

The trip provided a wonderful opportunity for students to experience live theatre, with many of them expressing how much they thoroughly enjoyed the show. Several students even mentioned that they were so inspired by the performance that they’re now considering pursuing careers in the performing arts.

For some, it was their first time attending the theatre, and they were captivated by the stunning set design, costumes, and lighting that brought the production to life. The magic of live performance left many eager to return and experience more.

Overall, the trip was a tremendous success. It not only deepened students’ appreciation for the performing arts but also sparked new interests, with many excited to explore the world of theatre further.
