PGL Netball weekend
We recently took thirty-five students to PGL Barton Hall for an action-packed weekend filled with netball and outdoor activities.
The trip was designed not only to enhance their netball skills but also to promote team building and resilience through various outdoor challenges.
The adventure began on Friday with exclusive access to the outdoor pool, providing a refreshing start to the weekend. In the evening, the students engaged in team-building activities, setting the tone for the camaraderie and collaboration that would define the weekend.
Saturday started bright and early with breakfast at 7:15 AM, fuelling everyone for a day packed with activities. The students participated in several netball matches, honing their skills and teamwork on the court. The excitement didn't stop there; they also tackled a variety of outdoor activities, including the thrilling giant zip wire, which was a highlight for many.
Sunday was dedicated to the final netball matches. Throughout the weekend, all the teams showed remarkable improvement, demonstrating the effectiveness of the intensive practice sessions and the team's determination. Although we narrowly missed out on the medals this year, the progress made was evident, and spirits remained high.
Mrs Turner said, "The Year 9 team were amazing, and they truly deserve recognition as a group. Paula, from Year 8 shone as captain, using her communication skills and friendly manner to inspire her team and Lilly in Year 7 consistently guided her team while also supporting the other SDCC teams, showcasing her exceptional leadership and sportsmanship."
The experience has left us all eager for the netball season to start again in September, where we plan to bring the same enthusiasm and dedication, ready to compete for the medals next year!
