3 September 2019

The Class of 2024 crossed the threshold of Stoke Damerel for their first day on Tuesday 3 September 2019.

It was fabulous to see them arrive in their brand new Stoke Damerel uniform; looking so smart and professional.

The day began with a welcome assembly with Miss Frier, the Principal, Ms MacManus, the Year 7 Learning Manager, Year 7 tutors and members of the Senior Management Team.

Ms MacManus talked to the students about how high expectations are the key to everything and how this was a blank page and fresh start in the next chapter of their life stories.

The new Year 7s were also issued with their fully-equipped pencil case and introduced to their exciting new tutor reading book.

There was a session to explain self-quizzing and what to expect for homework.

A brief drop into the photography booth to have a professional school photo taken and then it was onto lessons.

Later, the Year 7s had the opportunity to get to know their tutors and each other as well as having a delicious lunch in the brand new KS3 canteen.

They had time to explore the College and generally make the most of having the school to themselves before the rest of the students arrived back on Wednesday.

Ms MacManus said: “The whole day was a great success. It was lovely to meet so many excited, eager and polite young people - I am so looking forward to working with them and supporting them to achieve their potential!”
