Students and staff are celebrating improved GCSE results at Stoke Damerel Community College.

 Staff and students gathered at the College on Thursday morning to open their brown envelopes and Year 11 Learning Manager Mr Gill said he was “very,very proud” of the students’ achievements.

“All the hard work and dedication has paid off - I'm so pleased with what they have achieved and excited for their futures.”

Year 11 Felix achieved impressive results - including 9s in English Literature and Art and Design. "I thought I was going to pass out when I opened the envelope! I was literally in tears - I'm so pleased and relieved." Felix is going to stay on for Sixth Form and do Chemistry, Art and English at A Level.

Kamil was also celebrating after a raft of excellent results including a 9 in Maths.

"I am so chuffed - and I'm going to celebrate with a pizza!" Kamil will go on to study A levels in Maths, Further Maths and Physics. 

Lewis is going to study Maths, Physics, Biology and Further Maths after achieving GCSEs all at 6 and above, including an 8 in Maths.

"It's good - I did work hard so I'm glad I got the results I did."

Another of the College's highest performing student, Hailey, said she was very pleased with all  her results and A levels in Business, Maths and French now beckon. Fellow Year 11 Anna also achieved highly - including several Distinction* - and will study Biology, Psychology and Double Sport.

Executive Principal Miss Frier said: "It's really pleasing to see our results improving consistently year on year. Our students have worked so hard and they deserve their success."
