The Performing Arts Department has developed a rewards scheme to help raise attainment and behaviour.

All students have been made aware of the expectations and rules to be eligible for this award including displaying excellent learning behaviours and being equipped for lessons.

This scheme was a huge success with more than 100 students from Years 7 to 10 attending a Dance show, performed by City College as a reward.

"This event has helped raise aspirations with the Performing Arts department and to develop students' skills through a variety of practical Dance workshops," said Dance teacher Miss Adams.

"Year 8, 9 and 10 participated in these workshops where they learnt repertoire from the City College show. All students challenged themselves within the workshops and represented Stoke Damerel Community College in a professional manner. The year 9 students opened the show performing their contemporary Dance which they have been working on during lesson time with apprentice Miss Milden. "

Miss Adams said she received an email from year 8 student Lucy the evening after the City College show requesting the music that was used within the workshop so she and her friends could practice at home.

"The Performing Arts department are very pleased with how the day ran and look forward to offering more reward opportunities in future," added Miss Adams.
