The College commemorated Holocaust Memorial Day on Friday 25 January with a stand on the Street display posters and leaflets supplied by the HMD trust Holly and Darcie helped to give out stickers, talk to students about what HMD means to them and ask students to leave a card to express how they would feel if they were 'Torn From Home'.

At registration tutors read to students from the HMD booklets and Year 8 students in Mr Huntley's class were asked to create a diary account creative piece of writing.

Year 8 students Martha, Ebony and Charli's work was selected for a Best Work nomination and used as part of the display.

Darcie and Holly successfully applied for the Holocaust Education Trust Lessons from Auschwitz Ambassador Programme this year and will be visiting Auschwitz concentration camps next month as part of their four-stage training.

Darcie: "My motivations are to further educate the youth of today about the Holocaust to keep the memories of the tragedy alive for future generations"

Holly: "I am currently studying History at A Level. I believe taking part in the Lessons from Auschwitz project is an opportunity to develop my knowledge on the events of the Holocaust."
