The College's Young Carers Champion and one of our Glowing Stars group have attended the first ever Plymouth Young Carers conference.

Held at Tor Bridge School  and organised by Plymouth City Council the conference was attended by staff from schools across the city. They were given the opportunity to learn more about how to identify and support young carers in school.

The conference was opened by the Lord Mayor Cllr Sam Davey and guest speakers included young carers who shared their personal stories.

Year 13 student Sommer spoke about her journey as a young carer and the valuable support she receives from the Young Carers group here - Glowing Stars.

"The conference has been very helpful for me," said Sommer. "I found out about the opportunities I have now and post-18 when I leave school so I still feel like I have help and support."

Mrs Blackmore runs the group." We had a stand at the conference showcasing our work with Young Carers," explained Mrs Blackmore. "We also sold cupcakes to raise funds for our group which meets every Thursday 3-4pm."
