Year 10 students were given insights into the world of work when more than 20 employers - from Dartmoor Zoo to the Devon and Cornwall Police Dog Unit - came to the College as part of Alternative School Day.

"The Careers and Enterprise Fair for Year 10 was to give students knowledge and practical skills in a range of industries," said Mrs Brooking - the College's Career and Employability advisor.

"The day opened with an assembly held by Vince Barry - an ex-student - and parliamentary candidate for Torridge and West Devon in the recent General election.

"He discussed his own career journey.

"The students then attended two employers' sessions of their choice.

"The students then came back together for an inspiring talk from Sgt Olly Tayler – Devon and Cornwall Police and PC Dog Handler, Martin King.

"They then got to meet the dogs and have a look at Sgt Tayler's bike during lunch break!"
