It's not every day staff and students are allowed to wear Onesies to College but on Wednesday there was a very special reason for doing it.

Onesie Wednesday is a National Autistic Society initiative aimed at raising awareness of the condition and the College held its special day on 15 April 2015.

"After the success of last year's Autism Awareness day once again staff and students raised awareness and showed their support for students with autism in our school community by wearing a onesie or something blue to school," explained the College's special needs co-ordinator Mrs Barrett.

Students have been attending assemblies all week to raise their awareness of autism and, as well as an exhibition in the Street, stickers and wristbands were given out to share important and positive messages.

"Raising awareness with staff and students is vital to ensure that they can be successful in school," said Mrs Barrett.

"I am really lucky in my job and Stoke Damerel is such a fantastically supportive and inclusive school - thank you for all your support."
