The Art department, as part of a graphic design project, produced a number of posters on the theme of Make Plymouth a Dementia-Friendly city.

The piece of work was inspired by a seminar led by two local residents, one who had cared for someone with dementia and the other a person active in working with The Alzheimer's Society.

The project was a very successful vehicle, it enabled a significant number of students to engage with the issues around dementia.

Students are better informed and have gained significantly from the experience they have had.

Mature, positive role models who worked on the project have represented the college at outside events, including speaking at conferences on health.

The work will continue this academic year.

The form the work takes will be adapted to meet the needs of the planned curriculum.

It’s been such a good experience - we met lots of different people and I’ve learnt so much about dementia
