eden trip 3

A group of Year 8 Geography students had a reward trip to the Eden Project - read about it here.

Miss Hill wrote this account of the trip on 1 December 2016:

"Year 8 Geography students were invited to the Eden Project trip after selection by nominations from class teachers for demonstrating a positive attitude to learning as part of the Stoke Damerel 6.

The focus of the trip was to develop an understanding of ecosystems and how we can make our world more sustainable.

All the students said they enjoyed the inventions, recycled statues and exploring the biomes the most.

They were impeccably behaved, interested and attentive and came out positively buzzing

Quotes from students - what we learned and enjoyed:

Stan: The bubbles are made of steel and plastic and replicate ecosystems

Jack C: There are many types of ecosystems, hot and cold. Oxygen comes from trees, everything food-related originates from plants

Aimee and Milly: We have a better understanding of what an ecosystem is. If we didn't have plants we would die

Oliver: I want to live in a rainforest!

Jason: The roofs at Eden are uniquely designed to collect rainwater which is used to flush the toilets

James and Oliver: If you make everything from plants it would be better for the world. Plastic is killing the environment
