Three Year 7 students will represent the College in a city-wide times table competition after completing a 50-question challenge in record quick time.

Shakeel, Stella and Bracken will be up against other Maths whizzes in the Times Table Rock Stars competition on 29 June at Engage Plymouth.

"Congratulations to Shakeel, Stella and Bracken who recently competed in the Year 7 Times Table Rock Stars competition final in the daunting (but very supportive!) atmosphere of the Year 7 assembly," said Maths teacher Mr Axworthy, who organised the competition in the College.

"These three completed the 50-question multiplication challenge in the quickest time of all the finalists - Shakeel being the fastest with a time of 58 seconds!

"Well done to them all and good luck for the final."

Times Tables Rock Stars is a carefully-sequenced programme of daily times tables practice which is used in over 500 schools - both primary and secondary - worldwide.

Mr Axworthy added that, in the future, the Maths department will be hosting similar events with students pitting themselves against teachers.

"You best get practising your times tables!" he said.
