The College's rugby players had the rare privilege of getting up close to the Six Nations and Triple Crown trophies.

The two RBS trophies are on tour and Stoke Damerel was one of just two schools in Plymouth to receive a visit with special guests Maureen Jackson, Devon RFU president, and Rob Master and Wayne Reed, rugby development officers for Devon.

England were crowned champions on 13 March winning their first Championship since 2011 and earning the Grand Slam for the 13th time, their first since 2003.

"It was a real honour for our students to have a chance to see an elite level trophy up close," said PE teacher Mr Hatcliffe.

"It's something to aim for within their sport."

The students from Years 7 to 10 were able to have their photographs taken with the trophy on 10 June 2016.

"Rugby has really developed in the College during the past couple of years and all of the students involved are achieving success on the field so a visit like this is a reward for their dedication as well as providing them with inspiration," said Mr Hatcliffe.

"Hopefully some of our students will get to lift the trophy as part of a winning team in the future."
