Mr Hammond took a group of sports leaders to the Level 3 Games - read his report here.

"Today I took 23 leaders to run the county's biggest indoor athletics event, the Level 3 Games, at the Life Centre.

The Level 3 Games are for all the teams who won or came second in their regions - so this one is highly competitive.

The leaders worked incredibly hard and one of the senior games organisers for the county told me our students were "a credit to your school - they are brilliant".

I also took a team of 12 to compete in the tournament after getting through from the Plymouth regional event a couple weeks ago.

We did have some last-minute changes but the team who came represented fantastically well, showing determination, skill and effort throughout the day.

Even though they were up against some of best sports academies in the county our team did not shy away, they proudly stood and gave a performance anyone could be proud of.

We didn't make it through to the national finals, but they are champions to me.
Both teams did incredibly well through the day - congratulations to all of them. "
