A group of Creative Industries students have visited the city's newly-opened Ocean Studios as part of a new project.

Ocean Studios - which opened in September - is a new exhibition space with artist studios and specialist workshops at the Royal William Yard.

"Students had the opportunity to have a tour of the facilities, meet artists working in their studios and view the current exhibition," said Mrs Moorcroft, who accompanied the group on the visit on 5 October 2015.

"We are one of the first secondary schools in the city to work with the studios, and will be taking about 160 students down there over the course of the next few weeks, she said.

"After the groups have all made an initial visit they will attend again to complete a full-day workshop creating a piece of art in the specialist studios.

"These will take the form of ceramics, photography, glass, printmaking, and painting," explained Mrs Moorcroft.

"The students enjoyed meeting the artists and had a better understanding of why they made the art they did.

"It was a great start to the project and we are looking forward to many more opportunities in the future."
