Some of the College's most talented Year 8 PE students went to Exeter last week to take part in the World of Rugby Day.

"This is the first time we have done something like this with younger students," explained PE teacher Miss Le Page, who accompanied the trip to Exeter University on 8 September 2015.

"The students had mini lectures about what it would be like to be a student at Exeter University as well as what it would be like to be a Sports Scholar.

"They also heard from a Sports Nutrition expert about how to fuel their bodies effectively for high performance sport."

The students also had the opportunity to use the university's state-of-the-art fitness equipment, taking part in a group fitness circuit and learning how to squat with one of the university's strength and conditioning coaches.

In the afternoon they played a touch rugby tournament on the university's rubber crumb astro.

"The students performed amazingly well in the tournament and received great feedback from the referees," said Miss Le Page.

"It got them really excited for the Rugby World Cup as well as giving them plenty to think about for the future."
